The Propagation System is a patented grow system that supports the development of over 60,000 seedlings at one time. Utilizing an ebb and flood methodology, It features 2 distinct flooding circuits enabling nutriated water mixtures to be delivered to 8 plant columns. It has complete water automation, monitoring it’s pH, EC, and water levels, adjusting and replenishing without human intervention.
Through my time at Matternet, I was the team lead responsible for the detailed design, engineering, and manufacturing of Matternet’s physical assets. These include aircraft, ground infrastructure, and specialized components for customer and partner programs.
I designed several generations of the M2 UAV platform and automated ground station. The M2 platform is the first non-military UAV to be type certified by the FAA.
This monitor rack was designed and integrated into a semi truck trailer in conjunction with a helicopter cockpit to create a mobile flight simulator. Each monitor was mounted on a linear stage, which allowed the monitors to be separated in transit and shielded by protective covers. A network of pulley's, belts, shafts, and gears allow the monitors to me manually and positioned from the sides of the rack, as a design requirement by the customer. The entire assembly is mounted on wire rope isolators to prevent damage in transit.
The Bottle Lift System is an ergonomic solvent management solution I invented for use in conjunction with HPLC and Mass Spectrometry systems in a laboratory environment. The Bottle Lift System places solvent bottles at your fingertips for safe, easy fluid management. Without the system, laboratory technicians assume the risk of climbing up ladders or other structures to replace, refill, or view solvents for their liquid chromatography equipment. Along with designing the mechanical system, I also created the marketing collateral, designed and produced the trade show displays, and many other aspects of the project. thebottleliftsystem.com
In my two years at ASML I designed numerous mechanical components for the reticle stage sub-system of the extreme ultra-violet high volume tool, including but not limited to: precision adjustment mechanisms, compact linear drive motor assemblies, pneumatic locking systems, linear motor mounts, and machine coverings to enable controlled environments.
The primary function of ASML’s EUV Lithography machine is to create extremely small and intricate patterns on silicon wafers, which form the basis of integrated circuits. The EUV lithography machine uses a highly advanced light source that operates at an extreme ultraviolet wavelength, allowing for significantly smaller feature sizes compared to traditional lithography methods.
The EUV lithography machine projects patterns from a photomask onto a silicon wafer coated with a light-sensitive material, typically a photoresist. The extreme ultraviolet light enables the creation of minuscule patterns with unparalleled precision, reaching dimensions at or below the nanometer scale.
This PCB Test System was an automated board testing solution for carbon monoxide detectors. It resided in an environmental chamber and automatically tested boards for function. The system had 4 drawers that were manually operated and populated. The boards sat in pockets on pogo pins which made contacts on key test points. The system used pneumatic pistons to actuate press plates and ensure positive contact on all points.
I have always had a passion for motorsports. From an early age I raced karts and participated in many high performance driving events. I continued that passion professionally as a race car mechanic for several years working on high end race machinery. I raced several years with the AFM in California and competed in the final motorcycle running of the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb in 2019 aboard a Yamaha YZ450 that I build especially for the event.
